22. Ron Howard

Ron Howard won the hearts of kids and parents everywhere as young Opie on The Andy Griffith Show. He went on to star as Ritchie Cunningham in Happy Days before moving behind the camera. He slowly edged his way in directing starting with the low budget Grand Theft Auto in 1977. He has since directed Backdraft, Apollo 13, and The Da Vinci Code. He also won a Best Director Oscar for A Beautiful Mind.
