This one may be a bit obvious considering both men are straight, but the humorous onscreen kiss between Steve and Dwayne in Get Smart was not something either of them were thrilled about. Dwayne said that Carell’s tongue was like cat litter and his lips were like the bottom of a cat’s paw. With over the top descriptions like that it was likely just a bit of humor at Steve’s expense.
