Ingvar Kamprad started his life in business as a young child. He learned that he could buy matches in bulk for cheap and then sell them individually to make a profit. He went from matches to fish, seeds, Christmas tree decorations, and pens and pencils. In 1943, he founded IKEA on his uncle’s kitchen table. In 1948, he expanded and added furniture.
