4. George Carlin – $10 million

George Carlin was a world renowned comic and social critic. His comedy specials and performances were widely popular, and so were his books. He filmed 14 specials for HBO and performed comedy right up until his death. He had health problems throughout his life including three heart attacks and time in rehab for addiction to alcohol and Vicodin. He died June 22, 2008 of heart failure.
